Dunbrik Waste Transfer Facility, Kent
The Project
RKC Industrial Roofing & Cladding were appointed by Kent County Council to complete the external cladding for a new waste transfer station in Dunbrik. The facility was designed to handle up to 75,000 tonnes of waste annually, boosting the council’s processing capacity and supporting key environmental targets.
With a clear deadline to open the site before the Christmas period, RKC needed a solution that was not only dependable but also streamlined for fast installation. Fixing Point’s Gridtite Spacer System—featuring Ultra Brackets—was selected to meet these requirements.
The insulation build-up called for a 260mm insulation depth, which meant that bracket choice was critical in keeping the installation on schedule and within budget. Traditional bracket systems at this depth often require additional anti-sway brackets, increasing both labour and material costs.

The Fixing Point Solution
Fixing Point supplied the Gridtite system with Ultra Brackets, enabling RKC to:
● Eliminate Anti-Sway Brackets: Ultra Brackets provided lateral stability without the need for additional components.
● Extend Spacing to 1.2m: Fewer brackets were required across the entire project.
● Cut Labour & Fixings: By using fewer brackets, the team avoided installing over 100 extra brackets saving significant time on-site.
Outcome
The cladding installation was completed ahead of schedule, allowing Kent County Council to bring the new facility online in good time for the year-end surge in demand. The Gridtite system helped reduce both material usage and installation time—without compromising on structural performance or ease of build.
