In 2012 West Notts College launched a major multi-million pound revamp of its Derby Road campus in Mansfield to rejuvenate the site’s visual appearance.
Nottingham building firm J Tomlinson Limited and specialist external envelope sub-contractor Keyclad Limited were tasked with re-cladding several buildings including a six-storey tower, a three-storey block, a learning resource centre and a higher education centre.
The aim was to give them the same contemporary look as more recently-built facilities and to provide a modern, inspirational campus fit for 21st century learning.
We were instructed by Keyclad and became involved with the project during the first quarter of 2012. Our brief was to ensure the correct fasteners were specified for each application.
We co-ordinated all deliveries of the fixings for the contract, which started on site in June 2012.
All fixings were 304 grade austenitic stainless steel with a 25-year warranty.
Keyclad and the external drawing office trusted us to go through all the schedules to make sure everything matched up.
Our contracts director Jason Wood was permanently available for the site managers and contract managers so they could check product references and make requisitions for extra product during the term of the contract.
"West Nottinghamshire College is a truly iconic landmark on the gateway to Mansfield."
